Are you building yourself up with activities you need for self care?

My 4-year-old daughter has been struggling with confidence, social situations and big emotional outbursts in the second half of this year and we've been making changes to help her work through it.

We:
- Brought her bed time earlier to give her more rest.
- Taught her to self-regulate in a quiet, dark space (her room, the kindy library) to soothe her stress response.
- Shortened her kindy days to improve energy levels and give more time at home.
- Reduced the activities that seemed to trigger stress, adding ballet and gymnastics to help build confidence and happiness.
- TV and screen time is bare minimum (she can ask to listen to music whenever she wants).
- Regularly remind her of yoga breathing techniques and calming poses to help her self regulate.

The turnaround from these changes has been amazing! She now sleeps better through the night. There are no more tantrums and emotional outbursts are easy to calm. She now rarely worries about social situations and her previous anxiety issues seem to be gone. She generally seems a lot happier.

Mental wellbeing shouldn't be underrated! Imagine if all grown ups took similar steps for self-care...

Today was all about food prep! My family is really into bagels right now but on my last shopping trip the supermarket was sold out 😫

It motivated me to make some myself and I think they turned out pretty good! Super easy AND the kids said they liked mine better than the store bought ones 😏

Merry Christmas everyone! Hope you had a great day celebrating, that you had delish food and that you've managed to put your feet up for a break today at some point 💖

No workout for me today - gotta have days off! - but I managed to hit over 8000 steps sorting the Christmas presents (taking the 2 year old back and forth to bed about a billion times before she stayed asleep and I could get started with the tree... didn't finish until after 1.30am!), doing the pancake breakfast/turkey dinner, and playing with the dog and the kids 🙌🎄🎅

What was the last new recipe you tried? I had a go

What was the last new recipe you tried? I had a go at making pork and chives dumplings today - recipe made more than I thought and I ended up with almost 50! 😱 Pretty happy with how they turned out though...
