“This is incredible food, cooked ridiculously quickly, and I’ve done all the thinkin for you” – Jamie Oliver
Iconic chef Jamie Oliver has one-upped himself from Jamie’s 30 Minute Meals by shaving the prep and cooking time in half for his latest offering. Pushing the concept of fast, everyday food to a new level, this recipe book is designed to excite and inspire people to prepare a balanced, nutritional, no-nonsense meal every night of the week.
What’s inside it?
The contents inside cover a little bit of everything; from Mediterranean recipes, to British-style home cooking, to Thai, Indian and Chinese-inspired dishes. The pictures are vibrant and certainly make your mouth water as you flick through. Our faves include the Crispy Polenta Chicken Caesar Salad, Chicken Dim Sum with Coconut Buns, Sizzling Beef Steak Hoi Sin Prawn & Noodle Bowls, and Falafel Wraps with Grilled Veg and Salsa (in the vegetarian section).
The recipes are in a simple layout, are easy to follow, and each one shows what you need to do at the beginning to prep (i.e. kettle boiled, large frying pan on high heat). For those who struggle to find tasty, different breakfast ideas, there are some great ones towards the back.
The special bits
For those of you watching what you eat, Jamie’s 15 Minute Meals delves into nutrition more than his previous books. A team of nutritionists have overseen the making of these recipes and kept Jamie on track with regards to ingredients and portion sizes. The meals average out at around 580 calories per serving. At the back, you’ll find each recipe with the calories per serve, fat, saturated fat and sugar contents.
Jamie also adds some tips on how to cook fast and what he reckons a well-stocked pantry should have.
Buy it if…
You want tasty, healthy food that you can prepare super quickly – great for students, mums and busy people. Just be prepared that if you don’t know your way around the kitchen too well or if you’re not particularly fast at cutting up ingredients, these meals may take you a little longer than 15 minutes to get on the table!
