As we head into the warmer months, Iโve been inundated with people either talking about getting in shape for summer, reading it in magazines, seeing it plastered all over social media, or downright asking me if I plan to go on health kick before it arrives (thanks a lot!).
Iโve come to understand that Iโm really just not a crash diet kind of girl. Iโm a big foodie โ always have been, and probably always will โ so thereโs no way I can give up entire food groups or live on juice for a week. Instead Iโve been making small changes to my eating habits in the lead up to summer, hoping that these minor tweaks will make a difference in the long run.
My sister got me into creating smoothies for breakfast or snacks – nothing revolutionary, but she did introduce me to a few ingredients that Iโd never included before – rolled oats and protein powder.
These definitely kick the regular fruit smoothie up a notch! They help me feel fuller for longer so I donโt find myself devouring the entire contents of my lunch by 10am!
Hereโs the recipe Iโve been using:
INGREDIENTS
– 1 banana
– 1/2 cup frozen mixed berries
– 1/2 cup trim milk
– 1/2 cup vanilla yoghurt
– 1/2 cup rolled oats
– 2 scoops protein powder (Iโve been using vanilla whey protein, but whatever you have will do!)
INSTRUCTIONS
Throw everything into a blender (Iโve been using my trusty Russell Hobbs Blender!) and whizz away until you get a smooth, creamy consistency. Itโs super easy to make, and super yummy โ definitely a win-win!
So give this smoothie a go if you want to shake up your breakfast menu, make a change to eat less, or you just want to snack on something that tastes oh so good!
